Wanneer Joshua naar de buitenwijken van Auburn verhuisd, ontwaakt hij de nieuwsgierigheid van de inwoners. Ze weten niet goed wat ze met hem aanmoeten. Wat is de bedoeling van deze eenvoudige maar charismatische man, die eigenhandig probeert de kerk weer op te bouwen? Met zijn onbaatzuchtig gedrag weet hij velen voor zich te winnen.
