Het is 1968. Ben Sweet, een 18 jarige jongen, verhuist naar UC Berkeley om hier te studeren. Hier begint zijn odyssey met seks, drugs, rock & roll en politieke bedrijvigheid wat zijn conservatieve wereld op zijn kop zet. Voor Ben zal deze tijd in het teken staan van het ontwikkelen van zijn zelfkennis.
