Ester is de alleenstaande moeder van de mentaal beperkte David. Ze droomt echter van wat me-time gedurende een Italiaanse vakantie en kijkt uit naar de twee weken die ze zal doorbrengen in het huis van een vriend. Door omstandigheden valt haar wens in het water en vergezelt David haar noodgedwongen op haar vakantie.
