Wanneer ze ontslagen wordt onderneemt Z een roadtrip doorheen de Verenigde Staten. Op haar reis wordt ze van haar twee beste vriendinnen vergezeld, net als zij Afro-Amerikaans en queer. In feite dient de trip als een zoektocht naar een vriend die spoorloos verdwenen blijkt. In een land waar steeds meer spanning heerst willen de vrouwen hun eigen plek opeisen.
