In Los Angeles wordt een atoombom tot ontploffing gebracht, en het land vervalt in een ongekende chaos. Ex-Green Beret Jeff Eriksson en zijn gezin ontsnappen naar The Homestead, een excentriek prepper fort gelegen in de bergen.
