Van Wilder is een zevendejaars student, maar z'n studie is nog steeds niet veel opgeschoten: hij heeft het veel te veel naar z'n zin op de campus. Wanneer hij hoort dat zijn vader niet langer zijn studie wil betalen moet hij zelf op zoek naar geld. Zal het hem lukken er een achtste jaar aan vast te plakken, of wordt het eindelijk eens tijd om z'n diploma te halen?
