Computerspecialist Kevin Mitnick en zijn vriend Alex Lowe krijgen een opdracht van de FBI, maar ze worden belazerd. Uit wraak kraakt Kevin de aftap-installatie van de FBI en daarna verdwijnt hij. De FBI-agent is daar niet blij mee, maar als het voorval twee jaar later in de kranten komt, voelt hij zich pas echt vernederd. Hij stuurt zijn beste man af op Kevin.
