Kristen Parker probeert wakker te blijven, maar als moordenaar Freddy Krueger haar tot een ogenschijnlijke zelfmoordpoging drijft, wordt ze naar een kliniek gestuurd. Hier ontmoet Kristen Nancy Thompson, die het jaren terug ook met Freddy aan de stok heeft gehad. Nancy besluit nu om Kristen en de andere kinderen te leren hoe ze de speciale kracht, die ze in hun dromen hebben, kunnen gebruiken om Freddy te verslaan.
