Het jaar: 2205. De mensheid heeft de natuurlijke hulpbronnen van de aarde uitgeput en moet vitale materialen uit andere werelden importeren. Het blijkt dat er daadwerkelijk intelligente levensvormen in de ruimte bestaan. Het probleem is echter dat het vampirische levensvormen zijn. De bemanning van de Heironymous, een stel door de strijd geharde huurlingen die weten hoe ze buitenaardse vampiers tot stof moeten vernietigen, komen vast te zitten op een mijnplaneet. Er begint een zware strijd om te overleven.
