Film ter begeleiding van het gelijknamige boek van Nelvana Enterprises-oprichters Michael Hirsh en Patrick Loubert, met partner Clive Smith als ontwerper en illustrator. De film belicht de stripreeks "Canadian Whites" die tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog werd gemaakt, met enige aandacht voor Nelvana of the Northern Lights, de eerste superheldin in het genre, en Johnny Canuck. De film ging gepaard met een twee jaar durende rondreis langs de kunst, de "Comic Art Traditions in Canada, 1941–45" van de National Gallery of Canada. Dit is de debuutfilm van Nelvana Enterprises.
