Een groepje jongeren zijn op weg naar een concert, als ze onderweg een zwaar getraumatiseerd meisje oppikken die even later zelfmoord pleegt. Ze besluiten een telefoon te zoeken en belanden bij het huis van de familie Hewitt en de kannibalistische moordenaar Leatherface, die met z'n kettingzaag vervolgens achter de jongeren aangaat.
