'The United Way' vertelt het epische verhaal van de Engelse voetbalclub Manchester United, de stad Manchester en de man die meer dan de meesten heeft gedaan om beide succes te brengen, Eric Cantona. Op het veld was hij een artiest en in deze documentaire dient de weergaloze Fransman als gids. Hij neemt ons mee van de donkere dagen in München tot aan de historische overwinningen in 1999.
