De Koesjitische Dynastie regeerde honderd jaar over het Oude Egypte en werd geleid door farao's zoals Piye en Taharqa. Ze wonnen veldslagen, bouwden de laatste piramiden en bezorgden het Egyptische Rijk een laatste gouden eeuw. Volgens tal van geleerden waren deze farao's zwart, maar stereotiepe opvattingen zorgden ervoor dat deze theorie werd verworpen. De afgelopen jaren is echter nieuw bewijs gevonden dat aantoont dat de 25e Dynastie inderdaad werd geleid door machtige zwarte farao's, die de overwinnaars waren van Egyptes zuiderbuur Nubië, het huidige Soedan. In deze documentaire tonen de archeologen de meest recente ontwikkelingen in het onderzoek naar het Koesjitische Rijk.
