Tucumán, Argentinië, 1965. Drie jaar voordat George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead uitkwam, filmde regisseur Ofelio Linares Montt Zombies in the Sugar Cane Field, wat zowel een horrorfilm als een politiek statement bleek te zijn. Het was een succes in de VS, maar kon vanwege de dictatuur van Juan Carlos Onganía niet in Argentinië worden vertoond en ging uiteindelijk verloren. Schrijver en onderzoeker Luciano Saracino gaat op zoek naar de oorsprong van dit vervloekte werk.
