Een documentaire over Franse vrouwelijke popartiesten. In de loop der tijd wisten ze door te dringen tot het traditioneel door mannen beheerste bastion van de rock. In de film wordt onderzocht hoe hen dat lukte en hoe ze zich er wisten te handhaven. Rocksterren en zuchtmeisjes, maar ook klassieke chansonnières als Edith Piaf en Barbara passeren de revue.
