Documentaire over het leven van de succesvolle Amerikaanse toneelschrijver Terrence McNally. McNally heeft in zijn zes decennia durende carrière vele prijzen gewonnen, waaronder vier Tony Awards, maar heeft zich ook hard gemaakt voor de rechten van de LGBT-gemeenschap. Hij is inmiddels 79 jaar oud, maar is nog steeds aan het werk. In veel van zijn toneelstukken heeft hij verwerkt hoe het is om homoseksueel te zijn in de Verenigde Staten. Aan de hand van historische beelden en veel interviews met zijn vrienden en collega's wordt een beeld geschetst van het leven van McNally.
