Oscar-winnende set- en kostuumontwerper, fotograaf, schrijver en schilder Cecil Beaton was niet alleen een oogverblindende chroniqueur, maar ook een scheidsrechter van zijn tijd. Hij belichaamde de culturele en politieke veranderingen van de twintigste eeuw. In dit portret combineert regisseur Lisa Immordino Vreeland archiefmateriaal en foto's met voice-over van Beatons beroemde dagboeken om zijn erfenis vast te leggen als een complexe en unieke creatieve kracht.
