Een jong koppel, Mark en Sarah, rijdt door Ierland via een aantal binnenweggetjes en heeft autopech. Ze bevinden zich in een gebied buiten het bereik van hun mobiele telefoon en krijgen geen contact, behalve met één iemand uit de buurt, die in een hoeve woont. De avond valt en ze arriveren aan de boerderij waar ze de eigenaar ontmoeten. Ze stellen vast dat hij iets opgegraven heeft dat de duisternis verkiest boven het licht.
