Het is 22 mei 2011 als de studenten in Joplin, Missouri op het punt staan af te studeren en hun stad wordt getroffen door een tornado van een monsterlijk formaat. Een groep jonge mensen geloofde dat dit het einde van de wereld kon betekenen terwijl ze zich in het oog van de storm bevonden. Deze documentaire, die hun verhaal vertelt, toont niet alleen de catastrofale gebeurtenis die Joplin verwoestte, maar laat ook zien hoe de gemeenschap de tornado overwon door zichzelf te herbouwen en in een blijvend symbool van hoop transformeerde.
