Het bedrijf, opgericht door komiek en zakenman William Hinds in 1934, maakte films als The Curse of Frankenstein, Dracula en The Quatermass Xperiment in de periode waarvoor het het meest bekend is, en maakte sterren van mensen als Christopher Lee en Peter Cushing.
