The Eternal Memory nodigt ons uit in het leven van gevierde Chileense journalist Augusto Góngora en zijn vrouw, actrice en Chileense Minister van Cultuur, Paulina Urrutia. Góngora werd bekend als vooraanstaand cultureel commentator en archivaris in Chili, die jarenlang streed om de herinneringen aan de dictatuur van August Pinochet levend te houden. Nadat hij in 2014 met de ziekte van Alzheimer werd gediagnostiseerd, wordt het de taak van zijn vrouw Paulina om het geheugen van haar man levend te houden. Met genegenheid leidt ze haar echtgenoot door zowel de goede als de moeilijke momenten van zijn dagelijks bestaan, terwijl de ziekte langzaam maar zeker hun leven begint aan te tasten.
